DANCE WITH ME
DANCE WITH ME is designed to introduce your little ones to their first dance class experience with the comfort and support of their grownup dancing alongside them! It is a perfect way to build up their confidence and allow a seamless transition into our already existing preschool program Ready Set Dance. It is a fun class filled with singing, dancing and gross motor activities perfectly designed to support fundamental development for this age group.
Any grownup is welcome to attend (Mum, Dad, Friend, Grandparent)

JAZZ
Vital Movement Studios teaches the CSTD Modern Jazz Syllabus. One of the most popular and well-known genres, Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility and conditioning technique along with pirouette, kick and leap progressions. In a Jazz class the dancers also learn commercial dance steps that are used for all forms of dance.
It is a wonderful class to get a well-rounded variety of all dance steps. Dancers will learn choreography to popular, age-appropriate music along with vintage styles of jazz and musical theatre.
Ages 6+
TAP
Vital Movement Studios teaches the newly updated CSTD Tap syllabus along with classwork from the United Taps and Tapatak Oz street tap syllabus. Tap dance classes are high energy and great for developing rhythm, musicality and showmanship. It is a great style to begin at an early age as students learn the fundamental techniques which are the building blocks for more advanced progressions

BALLET
Vital Movement Studios teaches a combination of CSTD, RAD and ATOD Ballet syllabi. Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance. It teaches poise and correct posture as well as breaking down the mechanics of movement. Ballet has influenced and defined the foundation of techniques used in most genres. Ballet has evolved over the years but will always hold the most important dance fundamentals. It requires hard work, dedication and discipline.
Ballet is an ideal place to start for beginners and we recommend it as a must for all dancers to include in their schedule. It is highly beneficial, especially in today’s modern world, not just to those wishing to pursue a career in dance, but to the health of growing bodies.
Ages 6+
HIP HOP
Hip Hop is a modern style of dance that you would see on the latest film clips and dance shows. It is a highly creative style that encourages individual style and flair with an importance on musicality, controlled body isolations and performance.
We ensure that all content used in our Hip Hop classes and performances are age appropriate, including the choreography, music, themes and costuming.
Ages 6+
CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL
Contemporary dance borrows from Ballet, Jazz, social dances, and many modern dance techniques of the 20th century. Contemporary dance encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions, being able to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotion. It focuses on spatial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, leaps, turns, efficiency of muscle usage, and safe body alignment.
Characterised by it’s fluid movements and emotive storytelling, lyrical dance emphasizes the interpretation of music and lyrics through choreography. The fusion of technique and emotional expression allows performers to create a powerful connection with the audience
* It is very strongly recommended that all Contemporary/Lyrical students participate in a Ballet class each week. Entry into the Contemporary/Lyrical classes will be at the teachers’ discretion. Teachers’ may advise after a trial assessment lesson whether Ballet or Technique classes will be required.
Ages 6+
ACROBATICS
We’ve known for a long time that kids love nothing more than attempting and perfecting new “tricks.” Remember learning a cartwheel? We sure do, and it’s that sense of pride and exhilaration that we love to pass on to all students.
Once students have mastered the skills in their level, they move up to the next allowing them to develop their skills at their own pace. Safe dance practices are followed to ensure students’ safety and controlled progress as they advance through the levels. Students are placed in classes solely based on skill level, not age.
Ages 6+
POINTE CLASS
Entry into the pointe class is based on the teachers’ discretion and those students must pass a Pre-Pointe assessment before they will be allowed on full pointe to ensure their safety. If the teacher has any concerns, they may require an examination and clearance from a qualified dance Physiotherapist.
Minimum age 11 yrs.
PSS - PILATES, STRETCH & STRENGTH
If you are looking to work on your fitness, flexibility, strength, core AND dance technique, this class has it all! With a different structure each week you are guaranteed to build a mental sweat too, especially if you need variety to stay motivated. Stretching helps to keep muscles long and supple, while Pilates gives them additional strength. As well as being a great workout, it will help with injury prevention by making the muscles more pliable. Students will work on improving posture, increasing joint stability and range of motion and strengthening dance technique. This is a non-concert class.
Minimum age 12 yrs.
TECHNIQUE
Our technique class is strongly recommended for all dancers aged 10yrs + who wish to progress faster and hone their technical ability. This class is perfect to compliment to your other Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary classes. Students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute dance elements such as pirouettes, jumps, leaps and a range of other skills.
Each class may include barre exercises and a combination of centre work and across-the-floor combinations. This is a non-concert class.
Minimum age 10 yrs.
10-11 year olds based on assessment
